About Kalvintaka Art Studio

When we hear "Art", we barely scratch the surface of Art technically. What and how individual sees or even conducts the kwolegde of colors and skills are vastly spreaded worldwide, and it can be a real scrutiny subject. What we do at Kalvintaka Art Studio, we delibrately have everyone to embark on a journey into art, in depths. Knowlegde is the skeleton key which unlocks many amazing doors and provide smoothing essence to choosen journey. Perhaps one day, we will ask ourselves, "Is art something we NEED, or WANT?"

Hi ! I am Kalvintaka Tan !

Dad's from Japan & Mom's from Malaysia, but was traditionally brought up by the "OLD NASI LEMAK - Malaysian Coconut Rice" Style.

I was graduated from the University Of Portsmouth (United Kingdom) from 1995 to 1999. Art to me is like water, easily dehydrated without it. When I was a little boy, I used to stay with my grandmother (mother side), and used to draw cartoons on the walls by using talcum chalks, which used by elderly women back in the olden days sice early 60's, and yet till today, some people still using them.

During my return to Malaysia, I was invloved in alot of advertising work such as designing a concept for a local Malacca traditional boutique selling "batik" and a lots of involvements from shop signages designs, brochures, call cards and even web pages templates and concept art for shops decorations. The following journey of this bio will bring you through my partial life of my work over the years of hard work and devotions. Having the amphibian(FROG) concepts to bring essence to my paintings.

Testimonial

Attending Kalvin’s Art classes has had a good effect on Aiman's creativity. I think it is important for him to have an open learning environment where he is allowed to experiment or make mistakes and always be encouraged by a teacher who are less informal and creative like Kalvintaka.

I am pretty impress with the techniques you are teaching - I ask JC to try out the exam question which is logo with fish theme and he uses a paper and color pen to draw the koi fishes (from one of your classes) and he did it in a few minutes. I hope he will be able makes full use of his capabilities with your guidance. Thank you!

I appreciate the great people in this group for their recommendations, suggestions and sharing. About 2 years ago I asked for recommendation for art enrichment classes and was highly recommended Kalvintaka Art Studio by a mother here. This was painted by my soon to be 8 year old boy last Saturday in his art class. He's been going for classes for about 2 years now, since he was 6. Koi Fish on canvas. I'm sure it isn't the most 'wow' in the world, but it means the world to me. My boy is a very timid kid, shy and reserved. Learning art gave him an outlet to express himself, it relaxes him and the big smile on his face on Saturday when I tell him to get going for art! I'm a strong believer of letting kids explore in just about anything, you'd never know what their passion and potential is. Just let them try. Last week he said goodbye to guitar lessons and it half broke my heart. But he came back with this and I know he's headed on the right path.
